Math Gameboards numbers 1-10

Set of colored and black and white game boards for your classroom kit. Each board game incorporates a spinner which can be used with a paper clip and a thumb tack with numbers 1-6 (If you don’t have dice handy) This has been incredibly popular with my younger students, who have created some fun games using these blank boards. I have used them with mini rubbers as playing pieces and the game rules that even the younger students came up with, were really amazing. I have extended this activity by using it as a literacy task where students have been asked to write a procedural text ie. how to play the game. What you need? How many players? How do you start? What are the rules? How is the winner determined? An affordable and versatile resource for any classroom.

Sensory details include sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. Writers employ the five senses to engage a reader’s interest. If you want your writing to jump off the page, then bring your reader into the world you are creating. When describing a past event, try and remember what you saw, heard, touched, smelled, and tasted, then incorporate that into your writing. Sensory details are used in any great story, literary or not. Think about your favourite movie or video game. What types of sounds and images are used? What do your favorite characters taste, smell, and touch? Without sensory details, stories would fail to come to life. When sensory details are used, your readers can personally experience whatever you’re trying to describe, reminding them of their own experiences, giving your writing a universal feel. A universal quality is conveyed when the writer can personally connect with the readers. Another note about sensory details: there is no one sense that’s more important than another. It all depends on the scene you’re trying to create. However, imagery, the sight sense, is a common feature in vivid writing. You will receive a zip file containing a PDF and PowerPoint version of this resource. Are you looking for a fun and interesting way to engage your students Learning and mastering addition facts with sums to 2 can be challenging for students, but not with this fun and interactive powerpoint. This Powerpoint product includes 4 slides that your students can practice their addition fluency to 2. The first 2 slides use drag and drop characters where students can practice the strategy of counting on. For early learners, still at the counting from one stage, this strategy can be used but encouragement to count on can be developed using this resource. The second set of 2 slides encourages counting on from the largest number given, to determine the answer which can be written in an editable box. If the presentation is run from this point in presentation mode, students can click on the slide to check their answers after filling in the answer boxes. I encourage you to make a copy of this presentation or to NOT SAVE changes, when you finish, otherwise your working out will remain on the slides. It can be used for whole group instruction or independent work. You can assign a few slides per day for your students to practice. Simply make a copy of this product and choose the slides that you want to assign. This is for use by one teacher in one classroom. If you would like to share with your colleagues, PLEASE purchase a multiple license. Thank you :)

Pictures for Number Talks

(1)
Do you need a set of Real life Pictures for Number talks in your classrooms? Then this is the set for you The value of using authentic images in your math lessons and rotations-Mathematics educators have long known that engaging students in visual representations of mathematics is extremely helpful for their learning. Utilizing imagery and visual memory can be very helpful when learning mathematics such as proportions. A single picture can help a student define and remember a concept, or it can even help them to recall the steps required to compute a problem. -Students need daily opportunities to engage with mathematical ideas in purposeful and playful ways. -They provide time for authentic, independent practice that connects to what they have learned through whole class quality instruction. -Students need opportunities to develop the core and curricular competencies. Through the ‘doing’ of the mathematics, students will be building their confidence of themselves as mathematicians and seeing the connection of mathematics to  their world. -They give students choice, which increases motivation and fosters a positive disposition towards Mathematics. -They give teachers an opportunity to meet with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide explicit instruction, engage in guided math, and/or have conferences. The images are divided into 5 sets with teaching suggestions for each one. -Set 1- Arrays and Multiplication. Tesselations -Set 2- Working mathematically -Set 3- Growing Patterns -Set 4- Estimation -Set 5 - Shape and Design -Set 6- Graphing and interpreting data from images -Set 7- Coordinates and mapping What people have said about this product Extremely satisfied "We used this resource to get students in a routine during the beginning of math sessions during virtual learning. WHY Number Talks? Encourage students to discuss their answers with their peers. How did they reach the answer? What were they thinking in their head? What facts did they already know that helped them? What did they see? Number talks will get your students engaged in meaningful mathematical conversations that will increase their ability to reason mathematically as well as develop their computational fluency skills and their ability to think flexibly about numbers. When students engage in this short daily activity, they communicate with their peers in a safe environment where it’s okay to not be right all the time. It’s okay to learn from each other. They learn to discuss various strategies and the effectiveness of those strategies. They begin to take risks. Use the powerpoint to model the different ways that we can visualise a given number. Mouse Math THINKBOARDS- What is the question?- Numbers 30-90

(0)
What is a thinkboard? It is a graphic organiser or tool to assist students to make connections across/ within and between different representations of knowledge. The more connections that are made: •the better the understanding of the mathematics •the more likely it will be that the mathematical knowledge is retained •and easier it should be to apply the mathematics The focus of the think board is on finding the connections between the different ways of representing a problem. How to use them •Arrange students into groups of four, placed around the Think Board’s four sections. Provide the students with one of the sections as a starting point and give them time to discuss the idea with their neighbours before deciding on what to record. •You can also work on a Think Board as a whole class or individually. Assessment •Think Boards promote discussion – look for mathematical language used. •Assess individual student’s understanding of a mathematical idea – look at all sections of the •Think Board individually to find strengths and weaknesses This resource contains both PPT and PDF versions in a ZIP file so please ensure that you have the software to open them You will recieve a set of 5 different Thinkboards for each number and an editable version so that you can create your own.

Easter Collaborative Poster I Bulletin Board I Poster

Looking for a Collaborative Easter Project??? -Let your students work together to create a wonderful HUGE poster to proudly display in your classroom. 36 pages…enough for the largest of classes. -Watch your students and colleagues as they admire the fantastic final product. -Why not use it as a backdrop to take photos of your students to make personalised Easter Cards.? I recommend printing this on heavy card to make compiling this huge poster a little easier. -This resource is designed to be a class collaborative project, with each students working on a page of the larger puzzle/poster. -This resource contains 35 printable pages that can be put together to make a large display poster for your classroom. -The completed poster measures approximately 14cm wide x 14 cm high or 4’wide x 4’ high -Use this image as a guide to see where each of these pieces go….this adds to the collaborative challenge of this project. How to Print -This resource comes in two versions (the choice is yours). Make sure when you are printing that you select full slide or fit to page to get the maximum image on each of the slides. This has been created using US letter (8.5 x 11 inches) but it will print in A4 size also. -For best results print on card stock so that the corners of the pages don’t curl and each section is easier to manage. -I highly recommend that your students use the same medium for the whole poster for consistency. In my opinion, I find crayons or pastels give an even finish whereas markers tend to give more lined effect and is more time consuming to complete -The letter labels can be done with a different medium to create a nice contrast. Markers work well for this aspect of the group task. How to Assemble -My preferred method is to use masking tape, (sticky tape can become very difficult to work with for children) or alternatively have large sheets of butchers paper joined together and paste the puzzle pieces directly onto blank paper. Some trimming may be required. What People are saying about this project “I love these collaborative posters. My students enjoy making them, they help to decorate my classroom, engage them, encourage completion of work, and keeps everyone happy too! Thank you!” “Adorable and comes out fantastic. Thanks” This is for use by one teacher in one classroom. If you would like to share with your colleagues, PLEASE purchase a multiple license. Thank you :)

Place the rest of the deck face down on the table. 2.Shuffle the target cards and turn over the top card revealing the target number. 3.Let’s say the target card is 36, the player to the left of the dealer will look at the cards in their hand and see if any of them are a factor of 36. 4.If that player has a factor they will place it next to the target card, for instance, if it the player has a 4, they will say 9x4=36, and then the play will go to the next person to the left and continue until a player does not have a card that is a factor of the target number. That person then has to pick up ALL of the cards that have already been played. 5.The next player will turn over the next target card from the top of the pile, and play will continue. 6.The winner is the person who manages to get rid of all of the cards in their hand first. 7.Each player MUST say the multiplication face when playing their card. Social Narrative-YOU ONLY NEED TO ASK A QUESTION ONCE-A Social Story

(0)
A Social Narrative is an effective way to teach children how to navigate a new situation, such as starting school or preschool. Social Narratives can help children understand what to expect at school or preschool and they can be used to support orientation, which is particularly useful when children and families are not able to be on-site.  Teaching children how to ask a question only once is a common social skill that needs to be frequently addressed. As educators we always will say things like, “wait’ or “You asked that just a moment ago.”, however we need to explicitly teach these skills. This story can be used to help children to develop skills so that they can learn to function and integrate with other children in the classroom and other social settings.
