A pack of 5 general engineering starter activities for use in Engineering lessons. These have been made for level 1/2 students and each one will help to build vocabulary as well as developing knowledge of certain terms when the teacher goes through answers. Included with each of the 5 puzzles is an answer sheet. All puzzles have been provided as a PDF. Stay tuned for more puzzles and quizzes as we progress through the academic year.

PPT and activity to support the teaching of first aid requirements in industry. I use these to teach BTEC and City & Guilds engineering students at levels 2 and 3. I have tried to make these resources quite generic in order to provide accessibility across a range of subjects. Engineering/Technical drawing workbooks for 12-19 year old students (depending on previous knowledge, skills etc.) Comprehensive introduction to technical drawing covering topics such as - Sketching, isometric projection, orthographic projection, dimensioning and British standards. Good to use in the case of covering lessons as most of the activities are self explanatory. Many drawings have been used from textbooks - repurposed with original activities to develop skills in DT and technical drawing. Feel free to cut, paste and use any images, information and activities to suit your teaching.

PPT and activity sheets that enable students to carry out their very own risk assessments in the school/college. I use these to meet the requirements for risk assessment in pretty much any subjects risk assessment criteria (mainly BTEC engineering and C&G courses). They can be used across any level, the activity sheets are a simplified version of an engineering companies risk assessment. There are freely available templates to use on the HSE website, but these are very generalised and much too complex for teaching. Also, YouTube includes many videos that can be used (with the correct licence) to support the teaching further. Please feel free to cut, paste and chop any part of these resources however you see fit.

A basic overview of calculating the K-factor or bend allowance applied to sheet metal before pattern development and folding takes place. Simply written to aid understanding, a lot of the information used is theory and not regularly applied in the workshop, however trainee and apprentice sheet metal workers will be assessed on the theory. feel free to cut, paste and use anything here for any other purpose.

Three powerpoints and a word document that describe the processes of power generation and the methods that are used in order to send it around the country. Useful for a cover teacher or as introductory sessions into the subject of electricity and power. Appropriate for all ages, each set of slides uses descriptions and images to show its respective topic. The Battery Cell Construction document is for information or revision but could be used as a basis for activities if required. 29 page Engineering materials booklet covering the main introductory principles of metals, grain structures and properties; including facts, information, images and diagrams. It goes from basic materials properties through to grain structure, crystallisation and mechanical properties. There are no activities in the booklet itself however they could be easily produced from the large amount of content. Booklet is suited for post 16 - Level 3 introductory classes or advanced Level 2 classes, it could even be purposed for GCSE chemistry students. Please feel free to cut, chop and paste anything in the booklet to suit your own needs.

Ideal for a cover teacher or as an introduction to the world of renewables. Useful in all areas from 8 to 19 (Good for BTEC, City and Guilds, GCSE subjects and more) The solar power document is designed to be used for revision but could be repurposed to create activities and quizzes. All of the presentations are easily editable and could be used for a wide variety of lessons. Feel free to cut, chop and paste anything you like from the slides or document in order to meet your personal needs.

Resource for engineering or technical drawing. Includes large (124 slide) PPT file with lots of activities and information, and worksheets that follow some of the presentations activities. When I use this resource I hide the slides that I don’t need and only use the parts that I want to use for a given lesson. Please feel free to chop, change and cut anything in the resource (you will notice that it isn’t in widescreen but if you copy the slides you want into a newer version of PPT it should still look good)
