A series of lessons designed to teach Year 10-11 students about Shakespeare and how he presents feelings. This unit is pointed at a controlled assessment question that focuses on how Shakespeare and the conflict poetry POETS present ideas about feelings - poetry lessons to follow.

A simple Handout that encourages students to read the short story "Your Shoes". Excellent resource to demonstrate how to gather evidence for writing.

A handout that has students matching up the names of the 7 wonders of the world to images of them.

To get students to write creatively. The information surrounding the Titanic was to provide a stimulus for them to write their own story. Aligned with Common Core Standards: Writing: Text Types and Purposes W.6.3, W.7.3, W.8.3

Targeted specifically at 6th Grade students who have read "The Black Harvest" but works well as a starting point for creative writing. I use this at the end of a term when i have time left but have started to run out of material in my current topic. Aligned to Common Core Standard: W.6.10, W.7.10, W.8.10

Linked to the Roald Dahl "Boy" scheme of work. The handouts allows the top end to focus on their own development; leaving me to focus on those who were really struggling.

Focused on the Shakespearean text vs the Conflict Poetry from the literary heritage. Very structured against the bands and pointed towards the controlled assessment.

A worksheet on a poem, play and piece of prose from the Neo-Classical era. The questions are to check understanding and encourage thoughtful study of the era. I would appreciate feedback.

I pulled together a lot of thinking from a lot of different websites and have shaped it into these lessons. Not all of the content is mine.

A simple spreadsheet that allows you to keep track of your online lessons. My school uses classcharts as its medium in setting online learning - but you can easily change the headings of the columns to reflect whatever software you use.

Graphic Organizer for writing a comparative piece.

These lessons are to be ran in tandem with watching the 1963 versions of the film (not the modern version - the pilot is still alive!). You can insert these two lessons at any point in the SoW.

Another experiment with mixed success. Attempted with a particularly apathetic bottom set year 10 group and got some decent Band 3s - I felt they left a lot out on the field so to speak. There is a lot of scope for taking this idea and developing it - if Gove leaves off the specification (unlikely) I will be coming back for a second crack at this. If not, I will modify it for a KS3 scheme in the future. Happy trails.

....and here it is. The second part of an investigation into poetry. It should be noted that I have targetted these lessons specifically at LOWER ABILITY 6th Graders - this unit is designed to be a little harder.

An easy to use spreadsheet where you build a bank of true or false statements (tab 3) which will then create a randomly generated worksheet of ten true or false statements (tab 1). Additionally, an answer sheet will be generated too (tab 2) allowing for the resource to be used in a whole class setting. All you need to do is populate the spreadsheet with true/false statements and then identify which statements are true, and which are false. Instructions are built into the spreadsheet itself.
