Each of the schools within STEP Academy Trust has a unique character and Applegarth is no exception. 

Applegarth Academy is a happy two-form entry primary school on the outskirts of Croydon. We have very high expectations and expect our children to make the best possible progress across the curriculum and beyond. 

How we work 

As a STEP Academy, our values – Passion, Urgency, Positivity, Aspiration and Commitment – are at the heart of everything we do. We have a collaborative approach to teaching and learning, and support each other to achieve our goals. 

We share high expectations for our children and make learning fun and engaging through the International Primary Curriculum. Relationships throughout the school are good, and we are a UNICEF Rights Respecting School.   

Nursery and Enhanced Learning Provision 

We have a Nursery attached to our school which provides children from the age of three with a rich and creative learning environment. We are also fortunate to have one of Croydon’s Enhanced Learning Provisions on our school site, for children with speech and language difficulties. 

Location and facilities 

Set within extensive school grounds, we have a large playing field, pond area, peace garden and lots of different playground areas for our children to enjoy. We have excellent transport links, with the tram line into Croydon just a few minutes’ walk away. From Croydon, central London is a short train journey away and the town is on the outskirts of the M25.
