About Carnforth High School

Carnforth High School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in Lancashire serving students between the ages of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Carnforth has approximately 645 students on record.

Carnforth High School was established in 1959. It was identified as good with outstanding feature by Ofsted in 2013 and as maintaining high standards by Ofsted again in 2017. It is set in a large, modern site and has specialist training facilities which include a hairdressing salon for vocational courses.

It is located on the border of the Lake District: attracting students from Carnforth itself and the small villages surrounding the school.

The school is due to become an academy in May 2018. As a small school, with great ambitions, we are working with Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy, an outstanding provider and Local teaching school, to form the areas first local multi academy trust. This provides excellent career development opportunities for staff, and the opportunity to form professional networks across the area for smaller subject teams.

As the areas' Secondary School of the Year in 2017, the school is also supporting another local school. Mrs Michael, is currently leading Morecambe Community High School. For staff, who are ambitious to develop their skills, there are opportunities to be involved in school improvement work.
