About East London Arts & Music Academy (ELAM)

East London Arts and Music, otherwise known as ELAM, is a sixth-form college in Bromley by Bow,  East London, founded in 2014. It is a full-time Industry Academy for 16- to 19-years-olds interested in pursuing a career in music, film and television production, games design or music and media promotion.

Despite the obvious focus on performing arts, the college also offers more academic subjects such as English and Maths, and ELAM’s courses range from GCSEs to A-levels to BTECs.

Values and vision

East London Arts and Music’s commitment to the performing arts goes beyond the simple act of teaching. The college boasts extensive facilities, including high-standard recording studios, but it also draws a great deal of benefit from its links with industry.

Universal Music was a founding partner of the college, and ELAM strives to ensure that industry visits and contact are heavily embedded in the curriculum, in order to prepare students to enter the professional world.
