In recent years the School Journey has ventured to Borth in West Wales. All of our classrooms at Furzedown open into the outdoors. We love spending time outside the classroom as part of our day to day learning and on school trips.

Continuous Professional Development

With the support of the Governing Body, all members of staff are encouraged and supported with their individual continuous professional development. Training and professional courses are available where applicable.

School Community

Furzedown is blessed with an amazing school community that places learning, wellbeing and global citizenship at the heart of its ethos. Both staff and students work in a safe and inclusive environment and the school is well supported by the Parent Teacher Association. We are a broad curriculum School, we place a big emphasis on the Arts with an amazing purpose built Art room and have access to local Sports facilities to promote health and well being.

Furzedown is unique…it is an incredibly inclusive place. There is so much that goes on ‘behind the scenes’ to provide care and support – particularly to children in more challenging circumstances.

- Parent

We have lovely outdoor space to play in with lots of greenery and we can help with planting trees.

- Pupil

We often have new children join us from different countries who don’t speak any English, and we like to show them around to make them welcome…. and find ways to translate. Everyone helps them.

We accept everybody, and respect their different religions and cultures.
