About International School of Stavanger

The International School of Stavanger is a mixed-gender, mainstream, all-through school. Situated in Stavanger, Norway, the International School of Stavanger has a rich a detailed history leading back to 1966. Today, the school has the capacity for 850 students, with 50 countries being represented across the student body.

In its Early Childhood, Primary, and Middle School classes, the International School of Stavanger utilizes a cross-cultural curriculum based on international systems from Australia, Europe, and North America. Its high school curriculum is based on the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for Grades 9 - 10 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for Grades 11 - 12.

At the International School of Stavanger, English is used as the primary language for class instruction, with Norwegian being taught as both a first and foreign language. Spanish and French are also available as options for foreign language classes. Additionally, there are provisions for after-school first language programmes for students who natively speak Dutch, Italian, and German.

At the Primary School level, the International School of Stavanger focuses on Reading and Writing, Information Technology, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. 

For its Middle School students, the school offers Language Arts (English, French, Spanish and Norwegian), Geography, Mathematics, Information Technology, Physical Education, Health Education, and History.

At the High School level, the International School of Stavanger offers IGCSE subjects including Art and Design, Computer Science, English as a First Lange, English as a Foreign Language, Geography, History, Mathematics, Coordinated Sciences, Spanish, and French.

The International School of Stavanger only accepts applicants for teaching positions who have the following: 

• Two years of teaching experience

• Earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree

• Fluency in spoken and written English

• Current PGCE certification (or equivalent)

• A clean police statement
