About Kingdown School

Kingdown School is an 11 to 18 school set in the charming market town of Warminster, Wiltshire on the edge of Salisbury Plain lying between Bath and Salisbury.  Warminster is a bustling garrison town with a population of approximately 17,000.   There are good rail and road links to Bath, Bristol, Salisbury and the South West.  Many of our staff live in Bath, the characterful town of Frome and the surrounding rural villages and towns.

Kingdown School, part of the Acorn Education Trust, is the only state secondary school in the town.  It is a large and diverse school of 1600 students but with a strong sense of community derived from our highly successful house system.  We have excellent links with our feeder primary schools in the town and surrounding villages.

Our exam results are excellent and continue to improve. In 2018, our Key Stage 4 students achieved an Attainment 8 score of 47.0 and a Progress 8 score of +0.15. At Key Stage 5, 49% of students achieved A*-B grades, 78% A*-C grades, with a 99.7% pass rate.
