About School of Europe Tbilisi

Georgia

Georgians enjoy giving, like other nations enjoy receiving. Alexandre Dumas, 1859

Despite its relatively small size, Georgia offers not only an unparalleled diversity of historic sights and a rich cultural heritage including 8000 years of winemaking, but also a breathtaking range of stunning landscapes that include tea-growing sub-tropics, snow-capped mountain ranges, fertile plains, and semi-deserts.

Living in Georgia

In these terrific Georgians we had met more than our match. They could out-eat us, out-drink us, out-dance us. They had the fierce gaiety of the Italians, and the physical energy of the Burgundians. Everything they did was done with flair… Nothing can break their individuality or their spirit. John Steinbeck, 1948

Visitors to Georgia and foreigners living here enjoy boundless hospitality, the phenomenal Georgian cuisine, the country’s rich culture and convenient travel opportunities in the country and the region. Life in Georgia is pleasant and will remind many of a Mediterranean lifestyle. Though Georgia is considered a developing country, the capital Tbilisi offers a good infrastructure, excellent public transport, very good internet connectivity, and easy access to appealing shopping and cultural life.

The School

With its outstanding facilities and progressive approach to education, the School of Europe Tbilisi will be, as one of the key deliverables under the "Eastern Partnership - 20 Deliverables for 2020", part of a wider initiative financed by the European Union (EU) for the six Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries. As a flagship programme, it represents a strategic priority for the Government of Georgia and the European Union to address the needs of the youth, and it provides education in grades 7 to 12. The school will serve as a model for educational reform in Georgia and promote a better understanding of the EU and its values.

Who We Are and Whom We Serve

As a day and boarding school, we aim to develop best international practices in the successful delivery and implementation of the National Education Goals, the Georgian national curriculum, European values, and best practices from around the world. Using a wide variety of resources, we are enabling collaboration among teachers and creating an environment where students' voices are valued, and their interests and needs are met.

The school will implement two different curricula: the national stream in grades 7 to 12 which will serve a diverse student population from across Georgia and, once authorisation has been obtained, the IB Diploma stream (in grades 11 and 12) which will welcome students, including EU-funded scholars, from all six Eastern Partnership countries.
