About Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School
Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School is an 11-18 Voluntary Controlled Grammar School located on a prestigious site overlooking the Medway Towns.
Established in 1701 in accordance with the last will and testament of Sir Joseph Williamson, the Math has built its reputation through serving the needs of many generations of youngsters from the area. The school is widely recognised as one which maintains the highest standards of work, behaviour, appearance and care.
At the Math we believe that school is first and foremost a place of learning and that academic success is of vital importance.
We enjoy the use of excellent facilities and encourage as many as possible (pupils, parents and staff) to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activity be it drama, music, sport or social events!
Successful learning can only occur in an orderly environment we provide such an environment where pupils are expected to work hard and to support the ethos of the school. Our standards of discipline are high - and always fair.
We value the individual and the contribution each can make to the community as a whole. We take special care to ensure that individual needs are catered for we pride ourselves on our pastoral support and monitor carefully the progress of each pupil.
Finally we believe in the importance of a corporate identity symbolised by a school uniform which our pupils are proud to wear and which readily identifies them as members of our community.
