About Tavistock College
Tavistock College is a mainstream, non-denominational, community secondary school for boys and girls aged 11-18. Tavistock is located in Devon. There are around 1,300 pupils on the school roll, around 300 of whom attend the sixth form.
Tavistock College is part of a wider cooperative trust, alongside 10 local primary schools, which are all united by cooperative values of solidarity, self-help, self-responsibility, equality, equity and democracy. The governors of Tavistock College are actively pursuing an order to convert from a foundation school to an academy as part of a multi-academy trust. The consultation process is under way.

The Tavistock College motto is "Together we care, we challenge, we excel". It is an ambitious, successful and friendly secondary school with cooperation at the heart of everything it does. Teachers strive for the highest standards. Their aim is for the young people who attend the school to leave as happy, well-qualified, confident, caring and motivated citizens who will go on to flourish in their lives.

“Tavistock College has improved rapidly since its last inspection due to the very effective leadership of the Principal and her leadership teams. The quality of teaching has improved significantly so that all students typically achieve well in lessons. An increasing majority of students leave the college equipped with a good range of qualifications including in English, mathematics and science. Governance is strong. Governors have a good understanding of the college’s strengths and areas for development and continue to hold leaders to account. The college is highly inclusive. Governors and college leaders have given the school a renewed identity based on strong values and high aspirations. Students respond well to the college ethos and their behaviour is good.”
