A range of organisations are currently running projects involving education for refugees.

 

UNHCR

The UN’s refugee agency has issued a report titled “Missing Out: Refugee Education in Crisis” urging governments and private companies to provide more support. Its #WithRefugees campaign and petition demands the right to education for every refugee child.
It has a range of lesson materials and a teaching toolkit for mainstream schools to teach about refugees.

 

Save The Children

The charity Save The Children has been distributing "school kits” in Egypt and running education projects for Syrian refugees.

 

Kiron

Kiron is a social start-up offering free higher education to refugees, to tackle the problem that fewer than 1% get a university-level education. Its courses involve online learning, but also direct tutoring and offline mentoring.

 

Refugee Education Chios

Run by the NGO “be aware and share” (BAAS), Refugee Education Chios supports thousands of refugees on the Greek island of Chios. It has been active in child protection and runs a school catering for refugee students in three camps.

 

INEE

The Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) has a toolkit for educators working in crisis zones. This includes guides to working with young people who have been affected by conflict and ways to construct schools safely.

 

Whole Of Syria Education Focal Point

The Whole of Syria Education Focal Point site features curriculum details, guidelines and self-learning materials for those working with young people from or in Syria.
