The Viking Adventures - Aust Forkbeard Plays for Ks1 & ks2

Description – The Adventures of Aust Forkbeard: Viking!
The Adventures of Aust Forkbeard – Viking! is a lively, comic set of classroom plays that bring the Viking world roaring to life for children. Written by Brian J. Twiddy & Yvonne Peacock, these scripts blend real history with laugh‑out‑loud characters, chaotic raids, silly misunderstandings, and plenty of classroom drama opportunities.

Across three linked plays — The First Raid, The First Raid: Part Two, and The Invasion — pupils meet Aust Forkbeard and his wonderfully incompetent Viking crew as they attempt to raid, pillage, navigate, negotiate, and occasionally trade fences, goatskins, and broken axes. The stories introduce key historical ideas such as Lindisfarne, Viking longships, Leif Erikson, and Anglo‑Saxon England, all wrapped in humour that makes learning memorable.

The resource also includes drama‑teaching guidance: tableau, freeze‑frames, hot‑seating, role‑on‑the‑wall, and simple staging ideas — perfect for literacy, history, assemblies, or whole‑class performance.

This Viking adventure encourages creativity, teamwork, and historical curiosity, giving pupils a fun and accessible way The Vikings.
