Year 6 Arithmetic Tests with answers, written to fit on one A4 page. Based on KS2 SATs Arithmetic Papers.
I use these tests as revision for my Year 6 class. After much searching, I couldn’t find any Arithmetic practice tests that fit onto one page (to save on photocopying!), so I decided to make some.
Each test fits on to one page and comes with the answers. They are all based on KS2 SATs Arithmetic Test questions.
The tests download in both PDF and editable Word formats. There is also a front cover, which I use when putting all the tests into a booklet, so my class can keep track of their scores improving.
I hope you find them useful and it saves the trees/you some photocopying time!

Many of these activities can be done through teacher assessment observing children in play but also through CP enhancements and play-based learning. No RBA tablet-style assessing here!
For this week we have our children part time so our plan is much more simplified.
There are circle time ideas and adult-led activities to support baseline assessments through age-appropriate activities.
There are also a range of continuous provision enhancements to engage children and again, hit some of your baseline assessments through play - none of that RBA iPad assessing here!
Weekly Theme: Starting School
Focus Book: The Colour Monster Goes to School*
I know that there is some controversy regarding using the Colour Monster due to the black colour monster being associated with fear. In this version of the Colour Monster, the black colour monster only appears once. There is no reference to black representing fear but the words spooky and scary are used on the same page as the visual of the black colour monster. In our book we have coloured over him in grey paint. In the activities that we set out in class, we have removed the black monster entirely. We have chosen to continue to use this book as the children engage well with it, it approaches the subject of starting school well and promotes good conversations with our young learners.
This week our focus is still to settle the children, model the provision and get to know them! So there is NO FORMAL LEARNING planned. Here you will find some ideas for circle time and continuous provision enhancements based on the topic ‘All About Me’.
This project based learning resource is an engaging Geometry based Math mini project revolving around designing a Gnome village or town using isometric paper and is a great back to school or end of term activity. The project lasts up to 5 lessons plus there are additional problem solving worksheets that could fill 2 more lessons. Includes fun geometric tasks, bursting with mathematical concepts and math skills such as isometric drawings, 3D shapes, elevation drawings and plans. It also offers opportunities to be creative and to develop number problem solving strategies.
I’m certain you and your students will enjoy Gnome Homes. My students always love it and still talk about it years later!
The aim of the task is to create all the 15 different shapes out of 4 Multilink cubes and then design a Gnomes village using these shapes as buildings. The village/town must be decorated in a theme and as this can be set as a competition within the class or year group, the student with the most creative Gnome Homes, wins.
Not only must students design their village, they must also work out the costs involved with each building relating to the ground rent, paint for the walls and tiles for the roofs.
There are activities and problem solving questions based on the task, that are available for students who need extension work.
Finished products can be laminated for a super wall display.
Can be set as a class or year group competition and entries displayed.

A lesson on ordering and comparing large numbers. Powerpoint contains: a video for visual learners, sentence starters to encourage maths talk and inequality symbols to print out. Differentiated worksheets included. Aimed at SEND Year 8 students but can easily be used for KS1 & 2 or KS3 intervention groups. Dyslexic friendly font and powerpoint.
Before starting a new concept in maths I would always review their understanding so I can differentiate accordingly. I would usually do this at the end of the previous lesson and it would only take a few minutes.
