AQA Sociology Education Revision Booklet

(0)
A thorough and comprehensive revision booklet for the education section of the paper 1 exam, which covers all content they need to know. It includes information for students, and 7 activities ranging from crosswords to essay planning. Last year I published booklets which only included the advanced info, so I have updated them this year to include everything! They worked really well last year to make sure that students were revising early on, and I’m sure they will be as succesful this year too. I will be using this in lessons with students- instructions on how I plan to do this are in the booklet. May need the latest version of word or you might need to play around with the formatting. I’ve also uploaded as a pdf to avoid any trouble. I really hope this is useful to you!

Past, Practice + Predicted questions - AQA A Level Sociology - all 3 papers

3 Resources
Past, Practice + Predicted questions - AQA A Level Sociology Papers 1, 2 & 3 (note - the booklet for Paper 2 relates to options A2 Families & Households & B1 Beliefs in Society only). Each of these three booklets are written to prepare you for your final AQA ‘A’ Level Sociology exams in 2024. Each booklet serves the following functions: Overview - one page reminding you of which questions you will be facing in this specific exam and how many marks each are worth. Questions from each past paper are listed in chronological order – so you can read and practice ALL the relevant past paper questions without having to look them up. The themes of the past paper questions are then presented in a chart that relates to the topics in the Napier Press textbooks. A crystal ball and purple writing indicates which topics have yet to come up. A list of OTHER relevant questions to practice are then listed. These are sourced from a range of textbooks and there are many I have made up myself. Those in purple text relate to the topics most likely to come up. By working through these booklets, you should become confident in your knowledge of ALL the past paper questions – from 2023 back to the SPEC paper published in 2016. You will be aware of which topics are yet to come up – which will enable you to give these areas particular focus in your revision (make sure you revise everything though). You then have a range of alternative questions to practice answers to - many have been written especially for this booklet. By the time you have worked your way through these booklets, applying your knowledge to the questions presented, you should feel very confident that you are well prepared for the 2024 Sociology exam series.

AQA Sociology - Year 1 -Families & Households - Childhood as a Social Construction

(3)
This lesson covers the topic of childhood as a social construction. It would take approximately 1 double lesson to deliver. It consists of a powerpoint and a student work booklet. There are a range of activities and questions included for students to complete throughout with a knowledge check at the end to assess understanding. There is also a focus on exam question construction and model paragraphs. There are two versions of the booklet; student and teacher. For the student booklet, there are blank spaces throughout and students need to copy down any text written in bold/colour on the powerpoints in their booklets. I find that this helps students remember key terms and phrases. The teacher copy is already filled in. Alternatively, this could also be used for students if time was limited. **Remote Learning Update ** I believe that these resources are suitable for remote learning. I have been delivering the powerpoints via a virtual classroom (or a pre-recorded voice over) and have just simply added in some interactive quizzes from various external platforms. I have been giving the students the teacher version of the booklet so that they have suitable notes that link specifically to the lesson although some students still prefer to use the student version and make their own notes.

Families and households - EPIC revision PPT/Booklet

(1)
This is a complete revision PPT for the entire Families and Household’s topic for ‘A’ Level Sociology AQA Spec. There are 23 slides of content. The content of these slides is detailed enough to enable students to write a 20-mark essay on any Families and Households essay title that comes up in the final exam and provide suitable material for the 10 markers. Students could print these slides and use them as separate revision cards or they could be printed as a complete revision booklet. The slides are designed to help the students break their revision up into manageable chunks – and the use of colourful, highlighted text and relevant pictures should help engage visual learners. I also use my EPIC revision PPTs in class – students have the booklet version open in front of them while I am teaching in addition to longer textbooks and other resources. The slides contain relevant and up to date statistics from the ONS, the 2023 British Social Attitudes Survey and the 2021 Census – material that textbooks written in time for the ‘new’ spec in 2016 do not contain. Please note EPIC revision PPTs for Crime & Deviance, Beliefs in Society, Methods in Context and Sociological Theory are also available in my TES shop.

OCR Sociology A Level Exam-style Revision Questions

(0)
**OCR Sociology A Level Exam Revision Questions ** Set of example questions students can use for targeted revision. The questions include a breakdown of question type and AO spread for each section of the exam paper. These are designed for students to engage in targeted revision in order to practice the exam style questions. You could also use them to build assessments in the run up to the exams. Please note, these are not OCR questions, these are questions I have devised that follow the exam style of questioning, but also enable students to target a range of possibilities in question wording for exam practice. There are a range of questions for: Paper 1 Section A (Socialisation, Culture, Identity) Paper 1 Section B (Youth Subculture) Paper 2 Section B (Social Inequality) Paper 3 Section A (Globalisation and Digital Media) Paper 3 Section B (Crime and Deviance) I have not included Paper 2 Section A Research Methods in Context as these are based on source materials, and I tend to use studies I have used from across the social inequality topic to tackle those questions and extend understanding, so I don’t have questions for that section in this pack.
