A set of French revision quickies that match the vocabulary in the French Cambridge IGCSE textbook
Drills to practise ALLER, AVOIR, PRENDRE, ETRE and FAIRE in the context of school
A board game on the above verbs
This document is devised to help students revise and prepare for both writing tasks at IGCSE. It comprises of 13 essays (90 words and 140 words) given since 2013. Students will practise some of the tasks in class, some can be set as homework and the others are meant to students in the revision process. Advice is given for the 2 essays and 5 pages of recommended phrases, structures and idioms to improve complexity with linguistic features when writing. This resource can be used with Y9 top set and Y10 and Y11.
I have developed this resource from having designed my own worksheets from the Cambridge IGCSE textbook (2015 edition) into a workbook. The listening activites follow the whole book from units 1-15 and most of them are differentiated between lower level and higher level activities, however as the book progresses, the less the lower level activites become available as I strongly encourage my students to undertake the same level of work upon entering the second year of the IGCSE programme, as the examinations are going to be at the same level.
Before you purchase this resource, please note that these resources are designed from and follow the Cambridge IGCSE 2015 edition and the NOT the newest 2017 edition.
When buying this resource, please make sure you already have access to the Cambridge IGCSE French listening files 2015 edition, as this resource does not include the listening files and it is against copyright for me to upload them.
Happy teaching and learning!

I spent four years creating this resource and it is now finally published!
This resource is a workbook which explores the vocabulary and grammar exclusively extracted and followed from the Cambridge IGCSE French textbook second edition (published in 2017) and most of the third edition (published in 2019). The latter may have some differences regarding the order of the contents of the book which may not appear in this resource, but it does exclusively follow the second edition. Moreover, the activities are extensively differentiated.
The contents of this resource cover all of the topics covered in the 2017 textbook, EXCEPT for ’ C6.1 - trouver son chemin’, ‘C6.2 - Ca se trouve où, sil vous plait …?’, ‘C6.3 - Pouvez-vous expliquer exactement …?’, ‘C9.1 - On se deplace’ and ‘D4.1 - Je vais leur téléphoner’.
Please do keep an eye out for the accompanied listening workbook, also extracted from the 2017 textbook edition, in which the listening activities have been modified and extensively differentiated. It will be uploaded very shortly.
Happy teaching and learning!
This resource is a series of seven GCSE French sample essays based on the most common topics:
Holidays, School, Hobbies, My Area, Family, Chores and Visits.
It follows the NEW GCSE/IGCSE format for the essay writing: 4 bullet points, around 150 words, 3 tenses
Each essay includes a range of A star structures and has the translation in English below. Each essay includes some complex structures to reach Level 9.
My students found this resource very useful to expand their complex structures and build a range of set phrases.
This resource is also suitable both for AQA, Edexcel and Cambridge IGCSE students. Enjoy!
Here is a vocabulary list for the first part of the textbook Cambridge French for GCSE .
It is organized in different categories so easily broken down in small chunks.
This worksheet is based on the article below and is designed to build students’ ability to tackle the Summary questions in the Reading, Listening and Writing A Level examination. The resource is based on the topic of Le Cinéma looking at young people in France and their cinema habits.
Students will work through a series of scaffolded exercises aimed to build their understanding of the article and their ability to manipulate key vocabulary related to the Cinéma Module 6 of the AQA textbook. This said, this article and the exercises in the worksheet are also relevant to other exam boards like Edexcel, WJEC and Cambridge.
There is also a full answer key on the final page.

Due to the very few resources students have access for getting better at the MLAT exam I have created a French practice paper with corrections. The Modern Languages Admissions Tests (MLAT) is compulsory to any student applying for Oxford and Cambridge Modern Languages Departments.
My mock exam follows both the format and the grammatical structures of the original paper which includes:
- an exercise about prepositions
- an exercise about tenses (subjunctive, present, past, future, conditional, etc.)
- two exercises about translations (both languages).
