Based on Jane Considine’s unit around Should technology be banned in schools leading to an independent write around whether video games are helpful or harmful. Mainly focusses on UKS2 teaching elements of the curriculum. All thinking sides and experience day resources and planning sheets are provided.

A unit of work aimed at year 4 based around writing a persuasive holiday brochure around Sicily. All thinking sides are included as well as a planning sheet for children to collect their own information about Ancient Greece. All teaching powerpoints are included and provide enough teaching for roughly three weeks. Aimed at year 4 spag elements.

A short writing unit based on writing a non chronological report all about Charles Darwin before writing independently about Dr Barnardo. Two teaching powerpoints are included as well as the first three thinking sides to provide a clear structure. The independent planning resources for the Doctor Barnardo sequence are also included. Includes SPAG within context aimed at UKS2. A wrting model text is also included.

A writing unit based on the short animation Alma complete with a teaching PPT, thinking sides/jotters, and planning sheets. Each PPT is broken down into roughly a week of teaching. The unit follows mapping out and then writing the Alma story in small chunks before the Independent Write where children can plan their own ending or manipulate the story as they see fit. Punctuation and Grammar is taught in context within the journey as is aimed at UKS2 although the slides would be easily adapted for LKS2.

The unit focuses largely just on sentence stacking and building a narrative based on the book but will provide a good starting point for independent writing. Include SPAG taught in context with teacher models on the slides. Appropriate for KS2 although the grammar specifically targets y5/6.
