GCSE Biology AQA Required Practical Revision Sheets

(1)
AQA GCSE required practical revision notes/sheets covering all of the Biology Required Practicals (for triple science). Despite being worth 15% of the marks, so many students don’t allocate specific revision time to the required practicals. I designed these sheets for my own students to encourage specific revision of the practicals and have seen a great improvement in practical knowledge and the ability to answer practical-based questions. Each sheet includes an example method and most importantly, exam-style questions and model answers. The model answers for the exam-style questions have been written based on previous mark schemes, but I cannot guarantee that future mark schemes will be exactly the same. The model answers are for guidance only. Students should be encouraged to use these sheets as a starting point and update/annotate them with any further information as needed.

I have tried to put together some activities for sampling (investigating populations) to include doing a transect and random sampling and then carrying out statistical analysis based on the reuslts and also some mock reuslts to perform statistical analysis too. However, I never studied ecology in my degree so i am interested in feedback on how to improve this document (which I am sure can be extensive). I have not found something like this on the tes and so I am putting it here hoping somebody may have somehting better that i can use.

Exemplar lab reports for all 12 AQA A Level Physics required practicals

(11)
This is perfect for students in Year 13 to use to revise the AQA required practicals. All of the required practicals have been done and photographs taken of the experimental setups. The results have been tabulated and graphed with appropriate processing. The errors have been analysed, and additional research has been referenced. There is even an appendix where the AQA method of estimating errors is justified by comparing it to more thorough statistical error analysis approaches. Document contains ~19000 words and 95 pages (including title, introduction and contents page).

AQA A LEVEL BIOLOGY - REQUIRED PRACTICALS MASTER BOOKLET

(0)
A huge 60 page booklet on each of the required practicals for AQA A Level Biology including relevant exam questions, methods and techniques, answers and CPAC assessment trackers to track student progress, along with mathematical development opportunities, uncertainties and percentage error, statistical tests and reasoning, magnification and also biological drawings. The questions are based on research from many many many papers and include model responses that will guarantee full marks. I have also included a new practical, “practical X”, which looks at liming factors in photosynthesis and requires students to research and plan their own method for this. There is also a very tricky question on insect dissection that I have made and scattered throughout are challenging application questions in the style of the new specification exams. These are all contained in a nice, concise and consistent format making it clear to students, teachers and assessors. (Practical 12 is NOT included as this is a research skill at the digression of the school).

Please find attached two PowerPoint presentation covering mechanisms in organic chemistry. The first covers: Nucleophilic Substitution Elimination Electrophilic Addition Free Radical Substitution Nucleophilic Addition Electrophilic Substitution The second provides a summary of the above in slightly more detail but also includes exam style questions covering the content to give the students a chance to apply what they have learned. Additionally I’ve also attached a cheat sheet the students may find useful with more reactions and info on the conditions & catalysts. It was created for AQA but may also be suitable for OCR & Edexcel students. Enjoy

This is a step-by-step calorimetry practical with step-by-step instructions on how to calculate the amount of energy transferred (q). I incorporated this into the alternative fuels section of the GCSE AQA syllabus but it could be done at any time. I print all four slides out on A3 paper for use with Year 10 pupils. This resource could also be adapted for AS/A level (maybe with some of the help deleted).

This a student practical worksheet. It is designed to guide the students through an experiment that tests the Principle of Moments. Students are provided with a metre rule (hole drilled at the centre), nail, 10g masses, wire, stand and clamp and plasticine. The worksheet has an incomplete results table that must be completed by balancing the lever, finding the missing values and calculating the moment for each set of values. The students are expected to discuss their results and form a conclusion.
