Revision Success: A selection of highly-rated lessons and tools to help students succeed in exams, revise effectively, be prepared, well-organised and confident. These resources focus on the best way to revise, the different revision styles - what has been proven to work vs what doesn't, managing your time, building up your confidence and memory to succeed in exams and setting yourself personal goals and smart targets for revision, exam success and more. Each one lasts an hour and could be used in three 20 min tutor time sessions a week for a Study Skills focus.

I have created revision mats/knowledge organisers for all topics in the OCR Computer Science GCSE (J277). I have found them particularly handy as homework for a topic or as a recap when finished the delivery of a topic.
These are designed using the ‘OpenDyslexic’ font, this can be seen on the PDF’s. Formatting may differ on the publisher document if you do not have the font installed.
This pack consists of the original publisher file as well as a PDF of all the mats too.

I have now completed Component 1 and 2 workbooks. They have everything you need for successful teaching and learning, homework, flipped learning, study support or whatever you OCR J277 need may be.
This workbook is designed to be printed and given to each student. I currently use them as homework books for Y10 and Revision/Challenge booklets for Y11. The students love them and my colleague love how simple they are to use.
They are designed with teachers and students in mind. They prepare students for the exam and minimise impact on teacher time.
Each section has a simple student-friendly section which shows them what they need to know about this topic. Then there are quick tasks which can be starters or recaps. Then there are progressively harder questions which are not exam based but aimed at really pushing students to understand the content. Finally there are exam questions.
All tasks have model answers in the teacher’s workbook which make marking and feedback really easy.
At the end of each section there is a memory dump. For this I have my students write down everything they think they know about the topic. As we progress they correct this. There is then a space for metacognition/revision planning and key words for this topic. FInally a blank page. Use this how you like. My students use this as a knowledge organiser or positive doodler linked to the topic.
50 Question multiple choice revision quiz for GCSE Computer Science. Ideal class activity testing knowledge and understanding of content from different parts of the specification. Suitable for students who have completed or nearly completed the course as part of a revision lesson and helps with developing memory recall skills. Fully editable with ‘Ask me’ to give all students opportunities to answer.
The quiz makes use of a 15 second timer to encourage quick thinking and improve speed of knowledge recall, after which the question is covered, only leaving the possible answers. Incorrect answers chosen are highlighted red to provide instant feedback to the students during the quiz and allowing for opportunities to discuss the correct answer.
When playing the presentation, the quiz is navigated by on-screen buttons to encourage students to answer all questions rather than skipping through to ensure that they are familiar with these topics and consolidate their learning across the course. This also provides opportunities for students to identify areas of weakness where they need to focus their revision.

I have created revision cards for all topics in the OCR Computer Science GCSE (J277). These are used by my current Year 11 Cohort, they have found them quite effective as support tools in lessons and revision at home. I allow students to use them whilst answering question in lesson so that they are focusing on exam techniques whilst absorbing the subject knowledge too.
I have created a revision wall by printing each card in A3 and arranging it on the wall. Students can consult the wall if they are stuck.
All the cards have been designed to be printed double sided on the short edge, This is so that the topic name is on the back. All cards are using the ‘OpenDyslexic’ font, this can be seen on the PDF’s. Formatting may differ on the publisher document if you do not have the font installed.

This is the accumulation of years of teaching and revision strategies and hours or tweaking. I have made a workbook with answers which will prepare any students for the J277 OCR COmputer Science Component 2 paper.
Each section has quick tasks aimed at getting students to recap their knowledge. This is currently used by all students to see where they need to spend time revising.
Then there are 10 much wider questions which is aimed at deepening the students’ understanding. The questions are tiered in difficulty. These all have model answers. There are then example exam questions with answers
There is also a coding section with tasks aimed at getting students to practice the programming skills they could be asked to demonstrate in the exam. Again each program has a model answer.

This is a revision tool for students to use for the R093 exam. All topics are listed with space for students to rate their knowledge.
There are clickable links in each topic area to Quizlet revision games and revision sites like Bitesize for students to develop their knowledge. This would work well on Google classroom as students can access it digitally. Other links can be added for each topic as more sites become available for revision for this exam.

My year 11 class absolutely loved this revision game, they were all engaged and discussing the best ways to protect against threats, it facilitated some great discussions and it was great to see how much the had remembered about this topic!

The unit contains revision cards in a looping 3D environment with cards available in both English and Welsh. The resource may be used on an individual basis or as a class led activity it could be used as a game.
