This lesson was designed for the Year 5, PYP module Beliefs and Traditions. The aim was for students to explore the concepts of what a belief is with their peers, to look at the differences and explore the concept. The circle time worked really well, the monkey was a toy we used for when someone in the group wanted to speak. Enjoy :)

The Human Body Systems Reading Articles

(3)
These non fiction articles are great to add to your science unit about the human body. With the text suitable for upper elementary, they look at the facts behind six of our human body systems, with new vocabulary highlighted and provocations and inquiry based tasks included. The language aligns with the IB PYP phases 3 and 4 and NGSS. You will find spelling for USA and UK. This is a small part of my complete science unit of inquiry, Human Body Systems, that delves into the central idea of: The human body’s systems connect and function interdependently. With over 170 pages , it covers a six week study inquiring into the various organs and systems and how we compare to the systems that give life to other organisms. It is filled with transdisciplinary, inquiry based, multi-sensory learning activities and experiments, fully differentiated for grades 3-6. It is a thoroughly engaging and rigorous unit. Take a look here. We cover circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, immune, integumentary, skeletal and muscular systems. You may also be interested in my other complete inquiry based units as well. They include: Revolutions and Revolutionaries Across Time The American Revolution Extreme Weather and Global Warming Adaptations of Living Things The Earth’s Structure and Landforms Rocks and Minerals Those are just a few. CVC Rhyming-Word Dominoes 146 CVC words

(1)
CVC Rhyming-Word Dominoes This twist on the familiar game of dominoes helps reinforce words that belong to the same word family. Laminate and then cut them apart. Give groups of three to four students a set of cards. Have them place the cards in the center of the group. Have the first player choose a domino and place it in the center of the playing area. Have the next player choose the next domino and try to connect it to the first by matching rhyming words. If the connection is made, the play continues to the next child. If no connection can be made, the child keeps the domino for another time and the next child takes a turn. Players continue connecting cards until no more matches can be made. They may use dominoes they were unable to connect on previous turns or select a new domino from the set. Challenge> Stock a center with copies of blank domino cards. As students learn new word family spelling patterns, they can create new domino games to play. I really appreciate your careful review and helpful suggestion. If you take time to look for teaching resources, please contact me. I can help to make or arrange your teaching material data. I am working as an assistant for international school teacher for a few years. I can create what you want from your images. Thank you, Green Apple (ichibansake.com)

Las emociones - ¿Cómo te sientes? - Card Game

(2)
This game is the classic " I have... Who has ...? " game, designed to practice the main feelings and emotions in Spanish. This is an easy-to-play game and a great way to practice essential language concepts with the whole class. As students match up the answers on their cards with questions on other students’ cards, they get valuable practice with vocabulary, as well as reading and listening skills. Directions: Cut out the cards along the dotted line and laminate. For bigger classes, you might want to print several copies of each set. Give out all the cards in the set to the students. It is important to use all the cards. Choose a student to go first. I usually do that by a counting rhyme (for example, En la casa de Pinocho, solo cuentan hasta ocho, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) Have the selected student read the question at the bottom of the card aloud and then put the card down. The student who has the card with the answer then reads that answer aloud. This student will then read the question at the bottom of their card and put the card down. Play continues in this fashion until all of the cards have been played. The game will end with the same student who started play. Every card in the set is connected to a card before it and a card after it. To keep the game moving at a quick pace, all students need to pay attention to every question that’s asked. I tell my younger students that this is a magic game and that the magic only works if you pay attention, which is actually true. The magic happens in the end, when the question on the last card actually matches the answer on the very first card. Enjoy!
