Mothers’ Day Gift ‘A box filled with love’. After showing the children a special wrapped box (mini smartie box) tied with ribbon we say that there is something very special inside. Can they guess? There is a poem attached – You never can unwrap it. Please leave the ribbon tied. Just hold the box close to you, It’s filled with love inside. Bring out the filled smartie boxes & shake. Oh dear there is a problem – they should be empty! What shall we do? (love their reactions). After eating the contents they put their ‘love’ inside the empty box (again this is lovely to see – some blow inside, others take handfuls of ‘fresh air’ out of their mouths). Quickly close the box é wrap. We’ve found that pre-cut adhesive ‘wrappers’ are best. We were lucky enough to be given iridescent silvery sticky backed paper which was ideal as the children ‘rolled’ their boxes over the paper é it stuck. We used the ribbon that comes with the bows you find at Christmas. Attach the poem.

Mothers' Day Assembly Powerpoint (Christian)

(1)
A lovely Powerpoint file to use as an assembly for Mothers' Day with a Christian theme. It looks at the mothers in the Bible and what they did for their children. This is particularly suitable for KS2 and the children clearly enjoy the discussion that can be had around which skill or characteristic each mother from the Bible displayed. Children are then encouraged to consider how much their own mothers do for them.

Mother's Day Poetry Lesson - Metaphors

(0)
In this PowerPoint presentation, our very own children’s poet in residence here at Goodeyedeers, David Horner, will talk your children through a clever way to write a poem for their mum for Mother’s Day. He calls it ‘My Mum’s A Ferrari’ and it explores the use of metaphors. The presentation takes the children through the whole process step by step. At the end they will have written a poem describing their mum in a series of ‘metaphoric couplets’ - it is bound to melt the hearts of the mums who receive them. If you and your children enjoy this lesson then watch out for our other Mother’s Day poetry lessons - there will be four in total. We would love to know what you think of our resources, so why not leave us a review. All the money raised from the sale of our resources is donated to a local northwest charity for children called MedEquip4Kids. All the images used are from Pixabay.
