This is a bundle of four complete and fully resourced lessons introducing pupils to forces in Science. The resources are… Intro to Forces: Physics: Forces Lesson This is a fully resourced introductory lesson teaching pupils about the different types of forces. This Physics: Forces Lesson pack contains: A PPT (32 slides) and handouts (3 sheets) . Activities include: Starter Task: A Thinking Skills questions- on forces. A mind map on forces. Following which there is a visual explanation of what forces are. Pupils will then undertake a Conveyor belt activity and have to match up the correct picture with the correct type of force and meaning. Included in this pack is a peer assessment sheet that can be used to mark the individual activities. Exit task/Plenary: ‘MOO or False’ This is a true or false activity based on the information gathered during the lesson. Measuring Force-This is a practical lesson introducing pupils to Newton meters. Physics: Measuring Force, Newton Meters Lesson pack contains: A PPT (15 slides) and a peer assessment handout (1 sheet). Activities include: Starter Task: A Thinking Skills questions- measuring force. Task 1: Pupils are introduced to Sir Isaac Newton and his invention, the Newton Meter. Then pupils are asked to measure everyday items and record this information in the form of a table in their exercise books. Task 2: Pupils should then be given a spring and a hook and 5 weights (1-5 kilograms). They will need to hang the spring and add the weights one by one and measure the length of the spring each time a weight is added and record the data in the form of a table. They will then be asked to plot a line graph (you will need to provide graph paper for this task). Task 3: Pupils will need to conclude on the results and describe the relationship between weights added and the length of the spring and link this to how a Newton meter works. Included in this pack is a peer assessment sheet that can be used to mark the individual activities. Plenary: our interactive Starter and Plenary Prompt Selector that is worth £3. Balanced & Unbalanced Force: Forces: Balanced and Unbalanced Force This is a fully resourced lesson introducing pupils to balanced and unbalanced forces. This Balanced and Unbalanced Force Lesson pack contains: A PPT (23 slides) and a Workbooklet (2 sheet). Activities include: Starter Task: A Thinking Skills questions- on movement of objects. Task 1: Pupils are introduced to balanced and unbalanced forces by watching a short YouTube video clip and can make notes on this. Task 2: Pupils then complete an activity on different objects and determine the direction of movement on the object. Task 3: Pupils will swap their books and peer assess their answers. Task 4: Pupils will watch a short animation and be asked to take part in a class discussion on this. Task 5: Pupils will be required to complete a flow chart on the animation. Exit task/Plenary: our interactive Starter and Plenary Prompt Selector that is worth £3. Friction: A Grab and Go Lesson! It includes a fully editable lesson plan, PowerPoint, Differentiated activities (at the end of the PowerPoint) and a Pupil Peer Assessment sheet. The PowerPoint includes a bell task linking back to forces and a conveyor belt activity on the topic of forces too. Pupils are taught the basic principles of friction and then are given the task of creating a leaflet on the topic. There is a level ladder included in this pack based on Skill 1: Finding Information. Forces AFL: Pull the udder one! A completely customisable true or False activity. This particular one is based on forces. Pupils love the interaction shouting moo (true) or quacking for false statements. This can be used as a starter, plenary or an AFL checkpoint activity throughout the lesson. This is FULLY ANIMATED introductory lesson teaching the pupils the different types of graphs that we use in science. By the end of this lesson pupils will have an understanding of the different types of graphs and would have practiced constructing a series of line graphs. Graph paper is included and one is differentiated for the lower ability including a brief mark scheme to guide them. For the more able a pie chart has been included for practice. Energy: Sankey Diagrams Lesson This is a fully differentiated lesson teaching pupils of how to represent energy efficiency as a Sankey diagram. This Sankey Diagram pack contains: A PPT (33 slides) and handouts (5 sheets) . Activities include: Starter Task:A Thinking Skills questions- on energy efficiency. A demonstration on how to draw Sankey Diagrams. Pupils will then look at three devices and their energy efficiency. Activity: Pupils have to calculate the energy efficiency of these three items and create Sankey diagrams based on the data. There are differentiated sheets within the workbook to aid pupils who are having difficulties in drawing them. A peer assessment on the individual activities is included too. Exit task/Plenary: Pupils have to name the energy in the pictures, identify the useful energies and state whether they are efficient or not. Jesus- This is your life (2 hour resource) covering birth (Christmas) to His death (Easter) This is a Grab and Go Lesson! Zero prep. It is the 6 & 7th in the series of resources we are creating for the new RS GCSE. It was originally planned to span a 2 hour double lesson, but can easily be split into a series of lessons. It can most definitely be used @ KS3 too! This pack includes: PowerPoint: 73 slides!!! Resource Booklet: 9 Sheets. This lesson is designed to be an overview of the life of Jesus. Starter activity: Give me 5 activity Summary of Task: Pupils are asked to draw what they think Jesus looked like and then watch a 5 min clip on what he probably looked like. There is a handy diagram illustrating the life of Jesus too. Pupils are taken through some facts about his lifestyle. Beat the Teacher: The next task pupils have to find Biblical references about the Messiah (Bibles are needed for this activity). Jesus, this is your life (in 10 mins) The PPT guides pupils through the life of Jesus and the main events that occurred. There is a match up activity on the names of Jesus and a HW task on the I am sayings. Plenary is our Moo or False activity-pupils absolutely love this!! Religious Vocabulary: Pupils have opportunity to use the Religious Studies Vocabulary Booklet to add any additional Key Words they learn during the lesson. Design Your Own Costume for World Book Day! If you love this resource please review! :-) Take a look at our World Book Day Quiz guaranteed to add a bit of excitement to the World Book Day festivities! This is a fun activity to complete during the week leading up to World Book Day or on World Book Day itself. It can be used as a fun Tutor Time activity or a whole school competition. You have a choice of giving the pupils a sheet with male and female figures to design their own costume or they can choose between a male or female figure on which to design their own wacky World Book Day outfits. We print these out on A3 paper and display the best submissions on the wall. It is suggested that pupils discuss their top 10 favorite books and use aspects of this in their design. Pupils have to label each aspect of their costume and on the back of this sheet write a paragraph about their design together with some World Book day facts and information about the symbolism of each item they have used.
