This is a fun idea I designed for the school open evening for Year 6 students to attend for History. It is a simple exercise of de-coding who the murderer is by answering comprehension questions regarding Historic events, Roman Numerals and Morse Code.

Eight product posters that have now adopted brand names as their generally accepted nouns. Includes an introduction poster and conclusion. Whoever views this display needs to select a name they’d call each product… they add up a score and then the higher the score the more influenced someone has been by brand names. Great for Open Evening, particularly if two learners could lead it to discuss results to prospective parents.

RE Open Evening match up the artefact A resource which could be used at open evening. Pupils can match up the pictures with the descriptions. It is made very easy and straightforward as aimed at Year 6 students, however could be used as an introduction to RE with Year 7 or anything else you feel would work!

A Powerpoint presentation which could be used as an open evening presentation. It contains information about the OCR A-Level Law course, the examinations, what students should expect, suggested entry requirements, fun facts etc.

There are x sets of cards that I have designed to be used like the card game 'Happy Families'. There are 10 cards in each set that can be matched into pairs. One card from each pair has an image and the name whilst the other card has some bullet pointed information. This has been designed to be used at Open Evening to engage potential students and instigate conversation about what their historical knowledge is. They could be used as a topic starter in class, or edited to miss information out that students need to fill in, or as a template for students to create their own set. I will be printing them as A4 and laminating them but they could be printed as A3 for bigger display purposes. School logos could be added too. The sets are: WWI Civil Rights Movement The Tudors Crime and Punishment (all punishment) WWII Suggestions welcome - I will be adding 5 more sets as a second bundle once completed.

This is an easy win for open evenings - an easy print and set activity for primary students transitioning into secondary for Computer Science. The theme is data representation and binary. The goal is to make each total with the fewest number of currency notes. To make this run well, load up your printer with 8 different coloured pieces of card so each note is on a different colour with the instruction page on white at the end. Could be used as a part of an introduction to base-2 number system activity with KS3 as well. Some printing and cutting required.

If you’ve got an open evening coming up you might be wondering how to prepare or what you could offer to those prospective parents. You might already have some resources and be looking for extra activities to put out. Here is my pack of open evening resources, which I’ve used for years. They always help me ensure prospective students are persuaded to take psychology. I’ve included the resources i use for Sociology too as I know many people teach both but these are easily deleted if you don’t need them. Similarly you may need to change a year 2 module or two, if you don’t study the same three as our students do. In the bundle is: My door signs Six interactive activities to put around your classroom (this always gives the room a real buzz and helps keep visitors interested and busy while they wait to speak to the teacher.) A rolling ppt to put on the board for prospective parents and students to read. (you could amend this to add your dept results / entry requirements). As a teacher of over 10 years at an outstanding school, (who has examined and tutored), I have spent time compiling exactly the resources students need to excel in their exams. Now I want to pass these on to you. Whether you are a teacher or student these will help you get ready for the exams.

**French Open Evening Resources ** **Make your own French Passport ** Set up a passport making station in your classroom with the sign. You will need a few student helpers, pens/pencils, the instruction sheet and plenty of copies of the passport template, ready folded into a little book. You might want a tape measure too as not many know how tall they are. Once they have finished, you or your student helpers can stamp their new passport (if you have a stamp) **Make your own French Weather Vane ** Set up a Weather Vane making station in your classroom with the sign. You will need a few student helpers, pens/pencils, brass fasteners, the instruction sheet and plenty of copies of the weather vane template and cut out arrows. Student helpers help your visitors to copy the correct French phrase onto their weather vane. They can also help them to assemble it with the brass fastener and arrow in the middle.

A display I created for open evening for my school for the RS department. It shows a brief symmary of what the students are studying in Year 7. Could be adapted to suit your needs based on the topics you are teaching.

For our Geography Open Evening, the classroom will be transformed into an interactive space designed to show Year 5 pupils and their parents that Geography is exciting, surprising and relevant to everyday life. Visitors can explore our WOW! Geography displays featuring incredible questions about our planet, test their knowledge with the photographic “Where Is This?” challenge, and decide whether surprising geographical statements are true or false in Geography Myth Busters: Hard Mode. Families can compete in “Would You Rather? Geography”, voting on choices such as exploring the Amazon or crossing the Sahara, while “Your Clothes Have a Passport” encourages visitors to check their clothing labels, locate the country of manufacture on a world map and discover how globalisation connects us to places around the world. Finally, pupils can challenge their grown-ups in “Beat the Parent: 5 Second Geography Challenge”, racing against the clock to locate increasingly difficult countries on a world map and adding their points to the Year 5 versus Parents scoreboard. Alongside examples of work from Years 7–11, these quick, hands-on activities will give prospective pupils a fun introduction to the wide range of topics, skills and questions they will encounter in Geography at secondary school.
