There are 3 practices for each Topic:
Practice 1: Prepare the Role-Play. Fill in the gaps to complete the candidate’s script. (This is an intermediate practice to help students build up their Role-Play skills).
Practice 2: Prepare the Role-Play by responding to the 5 tasks. Students need to give one detail per task and can use the present tense throughout.
Practice 3: Prepare the Role-Play by responding to the 5 tasks. Students need to give two details for 3 of the tasks and may have to use a range of tenses.

These are 3 lessons to cover key phrases linked to the 10 settings of Edexcel (taught from 2024) role plays. It got my students thinking about how they could tackle role plays.
Includes role play practise adapted from Edexcel specimen tasks.
A set of 37 role-plays to practice in pairs for new GCSE, most of the instructions are from Edexcel specimen assessments, some are my creations.

This is a PowerPoint presentation I made for our students' independent learning away from school. It has foundation and higher questions and is based on Edexcel exams over last 5 years. Questions and Vocabulary for Speaking Role-Play and Revision.
This is a lesson I have created for my GCSE students to get familiar with the role play task.
To begin with, we look at question words and their translation into English. Then, I explain to them the difference between qué and cuál, which is often confunsing for them. Afterwards, students attempt 5 different role plays on a mix of different topics.
This lesson includes a starter, plenary and homework task.
The file is a PPT so it is completely editable.

This is to practise typical tasks from the role play part of the new (2026) Edexcel Role plays - GCSE French.

A presentation with guidance on how to tackle the Role Play element of the Edexcel Spanish GCSE Speaking examination - could easily be adapted for use with other examination boards. Includes games for students practice, either as whole class activity, or for small group/pair work.
Also includes double-sided speaking mat with examples of prompts taken from specimen papers - really useful for revision and detailing to students how to ask questions in Spanish.
I use role plays to reinforce new vocab. I split the class in half and they take turns to do the 2 parts (after we've translated the phrases as a whole class). Then they practice the role play in pairs. Afterwards, they have the opportunity to act out a weather report with a map of France. They choose which weather symbol goes where.
A role play about booking a hotel room for year 10 pupils, following Stimmt AQA GCSE (Higher) Kapitel 5 (Ich liebe Wien)
Pupils see a sample dialogue, then create their own in pairs. The include types of rooms, amenities, times and opinions. They can then perform in front of the class, and other members can translate what was said during the role play.

The pack includes:

· Large A4 size letters of 'Police Station' - a great alternative for the role play area

The posters, signs and pictures will create a motivating and colourful role play area either inside your classroom or in your outside area which will encourage the children to further their vocabulary and language and encourage writing for different purposes.
A worksheet based on GCSE Viva’s unit ‘Quisiera reservar’ from module 1 ‘Desconéctate’. It includes a range of tasks to learn/review vocabulary to be able to book a hotel room. Pupils will learn/reinforce how to form and answer questions through role play tasks. The GCSE style tasks are supported with vocabulary and there are also challenges to catter for all abilities. Since answers are included, this is the perfect resource to promote independent learning both at school and home.
