Interactive revision quiz with a broad range of learning activities that cover all 6 chapters of the new AQA GCSE Specification. All the answers are included at the end of each round. All you need to do is do some photocopying and laminating – everything else is done for you! I used this for four 1 hours after school revision sessions, had students in teams of 4. This could be easily used for Easter revision. Each round of the quiz covers a different theme and include a variety of tasks for students to effectively apply their knowledge & understanding of the AQA GCSE PE specification to. Overview of quiz rounds 1. Number round – 10 factual questions where the answer is a number! 2. Art Attack – Students need to identify, sketch and label a range of key topics. Ranging from levers to the double circulatory system loop and different energy balances. 3. Picture round – Students need to name and identify key topics from a range of visual pictures. 4. Anagrams and definitions – Students are tasked with unscrambling key words and stating the specific meaning of each! 5. Question round – Students need answer a range of questions. 6. Useful acronyms – Useful revision acronyms to consolidate and chunk key information together to aid application. 7. What does it describe – Students need to recognize key definitions. 8. Analysis of movement – An extensive range of picture movement analysis for students to apply their knowledge and understanding of joint actions, agonists, antagonists, articulating bones and types of muscle contraction to. 9. How many differences can you identify between two contrasting concepts – students are presented with two opposing concepts and their task is to come up with as many differences as they can. 10. AQA GCSE PE (9-1) Paper 1: Human body Easter revision This detailed and interactive powerpoint is specifically aimed at increasing students’ knowledge, understanding and application of chapters 1 to 3. It includes a range of tasks to cover all learning and teaching styles. Below is a breakdown of the different sections and tasks included:  Section 1) Memory recall multiple choice questions for chapter 1; musculo-skeletal, cardio-respiratory and aerobic / anaerobic exercise. Answers are all included at the end of each section. I did this individually!  Section 2) Locating major bones, muscles and joints of the human body. I printed off each diagram / slide on A3 and gave the students post-it notes to go round and show their knowledge initially. Students started off on one picture and added as much information as they could in the allotted time and then rotated around to the next to see if they could add any more information etc. I did this in small groups!  Section 3) Anatomical structure and function of the heart. I printed off the diagram of the the heart 1 for each student and organised students into groups of 4 or 5 and gave each them the cue cards with the structural features that they needed to know. Once completed we went into the sports hall and got the groups to visually make the pathway of blood and walk their way through it using different colour cones. I did this in small groups!  Section 4) Lung volumes and labelling spirometer trace. I printed off the blank spirometer trace and got students to label it, define the key volumes and capacities and encouraged them to think about what happens during exercise. I did this in small groups!  Section 5) Effects of exercise. I printed off the effects of exercise timeline and got students to organise them into immediate effects, short term effects and long term adaptations. I did this in small groups!  Section 6) Planes & Axes of rotation. I brought in some playdough and got the students to split their model in half to highlight the planes of movement and then use cocktail sticks to highlight how they rotate. I did this in small groups!  Section 7) Levers. Guess the lever system. I got students to apply the 3 components of the lever system to specific sporting examples in small groups. I did this in small groups!  Section 8) Components of fitness & fitness testing. I printed off the mix and match cards and firstly got the students to match the definition and fitness test to each component of fitness. They then had to rank the components of fitness for a range of different sports justifying their choices. I did this in small groups! I hope you and your students find these resources useful.

These two resources are specifically designed to help consolidate students learning and understanding for the pre-release scenario: James! Document 1 - Revision ppt: Includes 4 relevant, interactive and challenging tasks. Task 1: 10 key definitions for key concepts related to James - with key terminology that students need to include highlighted in bold to ensure they gain the marks! Task 2: Once students have these key definitions down on paper (answers included) they then need to explain and apply each key word to James to scaffold learning and show a deeper understanding. Task 3: Differentiated revision question board specifically focused on key concepts that we know about James. Ranging from picture boards questions (1 mark), C mark questions - identify / state / name / outline, B mark questions - describe / define to A mark questions Explain how and why / I have even included an evaluate question to really stretch and challenge the top students! I have also included a mark scheme for C, B and A question outlining key points that students must have included. Task 4: A blank revision board game and answer sheet for students to devise their own questions and answers. They can then use these for the next lesson / revision session.
