A themed set of up to 12, one hour, detailed session plans (with equipment lists) for a KS2, after school, STEM Club. For use by Teachers, Teaching Assistants and STEM ambassadors. Although there may be some overlap with curriculum topics, the activities have not been planned to meet classroom curriculum objectives. They aim to widen the pupil’s experience of STEM in a hands on, enjoyable way. Hand Washing. Why, When and How?

This KS1 resource includes a unique song that tells you how to wash your hands as you do it! It consists of two sessions using a variety of methods to stimulate learning around an important but simple topic. The first session introduces microbes, and explores how some can make you ill. The second session builds on this and promotes an effective hand washing routine through a bespoke song. The sessions are based around a dynamic PowerPoint, which includes discussion points, a game, and worksheet. Suggested extension activities and helpful resources are also included. KS1 Curriculum Link PHSE - Pupils should be taught to maintain personal hygiene and how some diseases spread and can be controlled. Yr 2 Science – Animals including Humans –Pupils should be taught to describe the importance for humans of … hygiene. Session 1 Learning Objectives To learn what a microbe is. To learn there are harmful and harmless microbes. To learn where they live and how they can enter our bodies. Session 2 Learning Objectives To understand the importance of hand washing.
