Contraceptive methods bundle

(1)
This product contains everything you need to dispel misconceptions and teach about contraception and sexually transmissible infections. The bundle includes: 1x Contraceptive true or false with common contraceptive misconceptions to stimulate class discussion 1x Contraceptive Methods PowerPoint including natural, barrier, hormonal and permanent methods of contraception and a section at the end about religious views of contraception. 1x Contraceptive method student worksheet and answers 1x Sexually Transmissible Infections PowerPoint including images of each infection affecting an area of the body which is not the genitals (see note). These resources have been created for my classroom in Brisbane, Australia. As such, they are written in Australian English and are on A4 sized paper. If you are having trouble printing ensure you are selecting 'fit to page' on the PDF Print page. If you have any questions, feedback or suggestions please don't hesitate to contact me. Note: Research has shown that graphic images of infected genitals do not deter students or encourage them to practice safe sex, however, images of the same infections affecting visible areas (hands, faces, backs, etc.) have a much bigger impact on students. Teenagers are very socially driven and the idea that someone at school or a parent could see the infection (as it is not necessarily localised to the genital area) works as a strong incentive for practicing safe sex.

Experiments on Green Leaves (Photosynthesis and chlorophyll)

(0)
Use this lab resource over two lessons to teach students about chlorophyll and its role in photosynthesis. During this lab students will do rubbings of leaves, draw and label leaf structures, test the requirements for photosynthesis, use iodine to test for the presence of starch, perform leaf chromatography, use microscopes to observe plant cells and draw field of view diagrams. Included at the end are a few questions for students to answer to reflect on the practicals they conducted. The last question is for extension and may require research on the student's part. Included: 4 page student lab worksheet List of equipment to order 4 page marking recommendations for teachers

Ionic and Covalent bond properties lab

(0)
Have students use their knowledge of ionic and covalent bonding to identify two unnamed powders. Students will perform a series of experiments to determine the properties of two unnamed powders in order to determine which is ionic and which is covalent. Properties students investigate include: physical state, melting point, electrical conductivity, solubility and electrical conductivity with distilled water. Included: 4 page student lab worksheet List of equipment to order 4 page marking recommendations for teachers

Moles of chalk lab

(0)
Students will use their knowledge of molar mass and Avogadro's constant to calculate how many molecules of chalk they used to draw a self-portrait. Students will start by weighing their piece of chalk, they will then get outside the classroom and use chalk on a surface to draw a self-portrait. Upon returning, students will weigh their piece of chalk again and will then calculate how many molecules of chalk they left on the surface outside. This is a great activity to break up a dry stoichiometry unit. Item contains: 1x instructions sheet, 1x formula sheet, and 1x equipment list.

Tiny Teddy Graham Natural Selection

(0)
Have your students learn about Natural selection through this hands-on activity. Tiny Teddies (Teddy Graham's for my American friends) are used to model two different species in a habitat. This lab is very similar to the peppered moth simulation if you are familiar with it. The best part is, as long as students wear gloves, and the experiment is not conducted in a lab, the students can eat the teddies afterwards! Included: - Tiny Teddy Selection lab sheet with instructions and tables for student results. - Question sheet.
