For the Literature mats, specific contexts, quotations and themes are also provided, along with specific literary techniques and key words. The set includes 6 revision mats in total, on the following set texts: GCSE English Language Paper 1 GCSE English Language Paper 2 * GCSE English Literature Paper 1 Section A (Macbeth) GCSE English Literature Paper 1 Section B (A Christmas Carol) GCSE English Literature Paper 2 Section A (An Inspector Calls) GCSE English Literature Paper 2 Section B (Poetry) *The 'sheep' isn't a mnemonic, just a simple way for to the students to mind map their ideas - they draw a squashed sheep with for legs to write their main ideas and the purpose in the middle. It's really just to stress the importance of planning before writing, which a lot of students fail to do. Hard to fit an explanation of this on the original document.

AQA GCSE Power and Conflict Poetry SOW 18 revision lessons covering all the poems and comparison

(0)
These lessons are ideal for revising the GCSE English Literature AQA Power and Conflict poems with the students in Y11 but can also be adapted for first time teaching. There is one lesson on each of the 15 poems in the AQA Power & Conflict cluster, as well as three integrated comparison lessons. The lessons are sequenced in order, to develop links between the poems, as the students progress through the SOW. Each lesson has clear learning outcomes and key words, then establishes the writer’s ideas and reasons for writing the poem before asking students to analyse three key writer’s methods linked to these (with writer’s methods being something students find most challenging and is often the lowest awarded AO in the examination). The analysis is scaffolded around probing questions, as a way to also promote unseen skills. Each lesson then has a whole class AFL opportunity called ‘consensus’, allowing students to compare and discuss their ideas. Model answers and planning/writing frames are also provided in the three comparison lessons. Copies of the poems are not included for copyright reasons. I suggest students use their AQA anthologies alongside these lessons.
