28 thinking-skills worksheets with accompanying teachers’ notes in a 59-page PDF for mixed-ability KS3 and KS4 students.
Practical, generally open-ended problems encourage students to discuss possible solutions and examine how they think. Topics include analysing problems, asking questions, interpreting information, sequencing, generating ideas, lateral thinking, organising information, recognising similarities and differences, methodical reasoning, decision-making, planning and evaluating evidence.
Use the pack as a course, select a worksheet to practise a particular skill, or choose activities from different sections. Tasks have cross-curricular applications, with particular relevance to English and PSHE. They encourage students to share ideas and recognise that a problem may have more than one useful solution.
Teachers’ notes explain aims and classroom management, with answers, preparation, differentiation and extension ideas where relevant. Supplied as the original photocopiable publication, previously titled Thinking Skills.
