This is a clear, colourful 46 slide power point which guides students through the 4 x ‘Macbeth’ essay questions in preparation for the AQA English Literature Paper 1. It is best used for revision or once the students have finished reading the play. There are 46 slides so this does take an hour or more, depending on how much you ask the students to write.
The main objective is to help students become efficient and confident in dealing with different exam questions. There are 4 exam questions on the following themes: loyalty, order and disorder, appearance and reality, and ambition. Each question has an extract and a step-by step guide to planning a successful essay. There is a detailed sample plan for each of the 4 questions.
There are opportunities to analyse language and reminders about how to use context effectively. There are also sample paragraphs included.
This lesson worked very well with my year 11 students who felt this prepared them well for the exam.
