Planned for Cambridge A-level students but could easily be adapted. This lesson focuses on chapters 20-25 of the novel as well as considering the significance of key motifs of food and letters/learning in these chapters. This is approached by small-group discussion and collaboration and then fed-back whole class. Students then consider chapter 23 and annotate key quotes focusing on their knowledge of key motifs, semantic fields, Cathy 2 and Linton and their links to other characters. Students are asked to consider the repetitions of Cathy/Catherine and Heathcliff/Linton and to analyse a key passage in relation to this. Students finish with considering other key repetitions and resemblances ready for the next lesson.
