Planned for Cambridge A-level students but could easily be adapted. This lesson focuses on the opening chapters of the novel, paying particular attention to narrative structure and points of view (using creative writing and other extracts from novels as a way into this discussion). The lesson then moves onto Lockwood's impression of himself as romantic hero and ends with reading of chapter 4.

A clip of Indiana Jones is included to demonstrate conventions of the heroic.
