There is a common, wild spread narrative that all Black people where either slaves, servants
or low born within European countries throughout history. However, similar to other people of
different races, Blacks experienced a wide-range of economic status, lifestyles and job
occupations.

Lesson one student(s) will explore the misguided common assumption that there were no
Black people in Britain before the start of Slave Trade in 17th century. By exploring and
discussing the lives, three persons of African heritage who were born or lived in Britain before
the 16th century.
