A fully resourced lesson which covers the sustainability of building materials and their embodied energy by comparing traditional African mud and thatch houses with modern construction materials. Activities include categorising materials as sustainable and unsustainable followed by a creative opportunity for pupils to design and draw their own sustainably made building which they will label with the materials used. This is the last lesson in a 7-lesson sequence on ecosystems.
