This lesson is part of a Year 8 Gothic unit. The objective is to read The Black Cat and use this text as an exemplar to write from the perspective of an insane character. Here is an overview of the lessons:

  1. Make predictions about the story, read it and watch the video.
  2. Learn about unreliable narrators and use this skill independently.

(I have included notes for any slides that you may not find to be self-explanatory).

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS STORY CONTAINS ANIMAL CRUELTY. IT WOULD BE AGE APPROPRIATE FOR A MATURE YEAR 8 CLASS, BUT FOR CERTAIN CLASSES YEAR 9 WOULD BE MORE FITTING.
