This resource takes the hard work out of analysing your Year 6 SATs reading results. Simply type your pupils’ names into row 3 and enter their marks — the spreadsheet does the rest instantly.
What’s included across four tabs:
How To Use — a plain-English step-by-step guide is the first thing teachers see, making the resource accessible even for those who are less confident with spreadsheets.
Mark Entry (QLA) — the main data entry sheet. Colour coding applies automatically as you type: green for full marks, orange for partial credit on 2 and 3-mark questions, and red for zero. A dedicated Focus column flags any question where the class scored below 70%, so you can immediately see where to direct whole-class teaching without scanning through all 40 rows.
Results & Rankings — automatically pulls each pupil’s total raw score, converts it to a scaled score using the official 2025 conversion table (already built in — nothing for you to add), and displays whether each pupil achieved Below ARE, Age Related Expected (100–109) or Greater Depth (110–120). Pupils are ranked from highest to lowest score.
Domain Analysis — shows class performance broken down by reading strand: 2a (vocabulary), 2b (retrieval), 2c (summarising), 2d (inference), 2g (language for effect) and 2h (comparison). At a glance you can see which strands are secure and which need further focus, both as a class average and for each individual pupil.
