Practising 3-mark questions using the PEE (Point, Evidence, Explain) method can be challenging. I found that the most challenging aspect of this is that children have to read great quantities of text before practising. They often have to read the 2 or 3 pages of a past paper.

I have written very short text extracts specifically to practise answering three mark questions in the varying ways they can be given in exams.

I do not claim to be an excellent writer, but I have tried to include parts in the texts that allow children to grasp making points, finding the evidence and explaining their understanding (PEE). I found that the reduced cognitive load allowed children to hone their ability to answer these question types.

There are 8 sheets (8 short extracts with a 3-mark question attached), and I found that doing one a week for a half-term period really helped my Year 6 class. I hope they help yours too!
