A full lesson on Microorganisms and Drugproduction for the 6.4 Cloning & Biotechnology topic. This lesson is specifically for the new OCR A Level Biology specification, but could be used for any exam board if adapted.

The lesson focuses on how microorganisms are used in fermenters to produce pharmaceutical products and drugs. There is lots of information on batch and continuous production and exams of how penicillin and insulin are made. There is also an emphasis on why asepsis is essential and a section on bioremediation.

There is no need for you to plan a lesson, as everything you need to deliver the lesson is included. There is an exam question that you can use to assess progress that also comes with a mark scheme.
