This Jack and the Beanstalk sentence building resource has been designed specifically for SEND learners and pupils who use AAC or symbol-supported communication. It supports the development of early sentence structure using a clear Who – What Doing – What format, linked to a familiar traditional tale.

The colour coding used in this resource follows AAC grid conventions rather than traditional Colourful Semantics colours. This makes it particularly suitable for children who already use AAC systems, visual sentence frames or communication grids, as it helps maintain consistency and reduce cognitive load.

The pack includes Widgit symbol cards featuring characters, actions and objects from Jack and the Beanstalk, alongside structured sentence frames that support pupils in combining symbols into meaningful sentences. Both PDF and editable Word versions are included, allowing the resource to be easily adapted to suit individual communication needs and levels of ability.

This resource is well suited to use in specialist provision, resource bases and special schools, as well as for 1:1 or small-group SEND interventions. It can be used to support expressive language, AAC use, sentence building and early narrative skills in a structured and accessible way.

Please note that this resource does not use traditional Colourful Semantics colour coding. The colours are intentionally matched to AAC grid styles to better support SEND learners who rely on AAC systems.
