A KS3 lesson on the abolition of the slave trade. This lesson asks students to consider the construction of historical interpretations, then uses a card sort to ask them to factorise key information regarding the causes of abolition. Students are set an assessment on who was responsible for abolition - a mark scheme is attached. This mark scheme is based on a level system but I have written examples below each level, which can be used with students (in feedback activities) to help them see the difference between different levels of complexity in historical explanation.
