Subitising Acorns – Early Years / PS1
This hands-on, versatile maths activity is perfect for Early Years and PS1 learners. Children can practise subitising, number recognition, and grouping skills using acorns in a variety of ways.
It’s designed to support playful, hands-on learning and aligns with the Welsh Curriculum.

Children explore different ways to group acorns to make the total shown on the bottom right
How It Works:
Children look at the acorns on the page and group them in as many different ways as possible to reach the target total.
Example: 20 acorns on a page – how many different groupings can you make to create 20?
Encourages flexibility in thinking, counting, and number sense.
