This pack of (almost) unlimited worksheets and teaching resources are designed to meet the Year 1 National Curriculum objective for Number: Addition and Subtraction by enabling pupils to **read, write and interpret mathematical statements involving addition (+), subtraction (–) and equals (=), and to solve one-step problems using concrete and pictorial representations. **
All calculations are intentionally limited to numbers and totals within 0–5 to support early conceptual understanding and good preparation before progressing to calculations within 10 and 20.
You will have a clear progression of ready-to-use worksheets, reducing preparation time to the minimum, at the same time with text kept to a minimum, allowing you to use the level of language & vocabulary that YOU see is best for your students.
The plan is as follows:
Addition
Set 1: Find total by counting objects in equations - Jellyfish, Shells or Fish
Set 2: Objects in equations -> complete the addition equations - Jellyfish, Shells or Fish
Set 3: Numerical additions - horizontal layout
Set 4: Additions - Find the missing number
Set 5: Numerical additions - vertical layout
Subtraction
Set 6: Objects + find the difference - Jellyfish, Shells or Fish
Set 7: Objects and subtraction equations - Jellyfish, Shells or Fish
Set 8: Objects in equations + complete subtraction equations - Jellyfish, Seahorses or Fish
Set 9: Numerical subtraction - horizontal layout
Set 10: Subtraction: Find the missing number
Set 11: Numerical subtraction - vertical layout
Addition and Subtraction
Set 12: A mix of addition and subtraction numerical equations horizontal
Set 13: A mix of addition and subtraction numerical equations vertical
Teaching Resources
There are 7 of these, and are ideal for either introducing or reviewing all the worksheets listed above
You have Virtually unlimited worksheets: Numbers, variables, constants and coefficients are changed when a button is clicked (located at the bottom of each worksheet). This permits you to build as many new worksheets you need for practice throughout the year . You can even give small groups of students in your class different sets of questions so they have to work independently.
Answers can be found on the second page of every worksheet. These are automatically generated whenever you build a new worksheet.
Lastly, it’s essential to note that these resources are compatible PDF documents and work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows and Mac computers.
