Tried and tested resources used for teaching Eduqas Poetry Anthology- Afternoons. Resources can be used either in one lesson, spread out over a number of lessons or used for homework/ cover tasks. Resources have also been made for differentiation with questioning designed to push lower/mid-level learners. Resources simply need to be printed to be used.
What’s included:
• Powerpoint
Differentiated learning objectives focused on quality of analysis and written response to exam style question. Some relevant contextual information with a homework task for pupils to research more. Analysis of poem follows a think, pair, share structure where students analyse independently, share their thoughts with a partner before sharing their thoughts with the whole class. Opportunity for independent work where pupils use analysis to answer an exam style question where they can self/ peer assess against the initial learning objects.
• Afternoons Assisted Analysis
One copy of the poem with a range of prompt questions designed to push lower/mid students with their analysis. Can also be used as a homework task or for a cover lesson which I have found particularly helpful.
One blank copy for higher level learners for more realistic exam practise.
• Example Responses
2 example exam style responses that can be used for scaffolding, self/ peer/ whole class assessment.
• Revision Table-
Afternoons revision table which pupils have traditionally found very helpful. Includes sections for structural comments, key quotes and inferences, comparison points for other poems in the anthology and contextual information.
