A free 45-minute elementary art and digital citizenship lesson plan for Grades 3-5. Students compare their original hand-drawn image with an adult-supervised AI style transformation, then reflect on creative ownership, visual choices, media literacy, and responsible AI use.

This resource includes:

  • Teacher lesson plan
  • Student reflection worksheet
  • Safety and privacy checklist
  • Discussion prompts
  • Assessment rubric
  • Printable PDF and editable DOCX versions

Students begin with their own paper drawing, observe what changed in an AI-styled version, identify what the AI misunderstood, and discuss how to use AI respectfully with another person’s artwork. The activity treats AI as a reflection and discussion tool, not as a replacement for student creativity.

Teachers may use any district-approved, adult-supervised image transformation workflow. KidsAI is included as one optional tool because it starts from a child’s own drawing and uses controlled visual-style choices.
