Algebra. Solving Linear Equations with X on One Side. Christmas Challenge. FREE SAMPLE

Brighten up algebra lessons in the run up to Christmas with this fun festive challenge.

Students are presented with a series of linear equations to solve and a blank table representing a mystery element from the Christmas Story/Nativity. Students have to solve the linear equations in order to find a series of values for X. Once students have all of their values, they need to convert them into letters and spaces using the grid provided. These letters, when rearranged, reveal the mystery element that fits into the table.

Linear equations include one step and two step equations. They involve addition, subtraction and require students to work with negative numbers.

The is a PowerPoint presentation so it can be easily displayed on the board and/or printed off for students to complete.

The free sample includes the title page, instructions, grid, one blank puzzle page and corresponding answer sheet. The mystery element is ‘Baby Jesus’
