A GCSE English Literature resource for teaching and revising the plot of J.B. Priestley’s An Inspector Calls.
This resource follows the Birling family’s engagement celebration, the arrival of Inspector Goole, the revelations about Eva Smith’s treatment by Mr Birling, Sheila, Gerald, Mrs Birling and Eric, the Inspector’s final warning, and the dramatic telephone call at the end of the play.
The structured activities help students retrieve key information, explain important developments and explore responsibility, class, power, family conflict, dramatic irony and generational differences.
The resource can be used for initial teaching, consolidation, intervention, revision or independent study. It is particularly useful for students who need support in remembering the order of events and seeing how each stage of the investigation leads to the next.
