What pupils will be able to do

  • Pupils can locate Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers on a world map
  • Pupils can compare Sumer with later British history
  • Pupils can analyse a Sumerian artefact (a tablet, a seal, a ziggurat) and explain what it tells us
  • Pupils can use ‘because’, ‘so’ and ‘however’ to explain ideas about the past
  • Pupils can evaluate Sumerian inventions and weigh how much they MATTER today
