This is a lesson that I used with a class that were struggling to understand and analyse the effect of language.
Do Now is a word sorting activity. Then we brainstormed words for what qualities make up the best person in the world. After that we exploded the words for meaning/inference (example image attached). They then worked in pairs to complete an antonyms diagram with effects before writing a description and analysing their own use of language.
It worked really well and there were many 'penny drop' moments.
