Fully resourced: Students explore the arguments for and against Chamberlain’s policy of appeasement.

A 23 slide fully resourced and teacher created lesson including:

  • Slide 1: Title slide
  • Slide 2: Warm Up: Students given a ‘playground’ scenario and asked what they would do if they saw a bully.
  • Slide 3-4: Starter - Map of Europe - Students become familiar with the map of Europe and in particular of Germany after World War One by labelling a map of Europe from the time. Printable maps available with answers.
  • Slide 5-6: Starter 2 - Germany after World War One. A gap fill activity for students to recap/learn how Germany was treated following the terms of the Treaty of Versailles. Answers included.
  • Slide 7: Background about attitudes to war in the early 1930s.
  • Slide 8: Background about the policy of appeasement.
  • Slide 9: Background about the Munich Agreement
  • Slide 10: Background map outlining the actions of Hitler in Europe.
